“El gato negro” es una solvente adaptación del cuento de horror que Edgar Allan Poe escribió para The Saturday Evening Post en 1843, en el que un hombre alcohólico y furibundo se enfrenta a un diabólico gato negro.
Si bien difiere del original en algunos detalles de guión, en general me deja buen sabor de boca. Me ha llamado la atención el uso de elipsis en la edición en momentos puntuales (el momento sofá y puro es memorable), y me invita a fantasear con una versión puramente cómica de este corto.
Los actores protagonistas están cómodos en sus respectivos roles, y se ven acompañados de una buena dirección. Se huele cierto aire teatral rollo siglo XIX tal y como esperamos de ellos.
Cabe destacar el diseño de producción, sin nada que envidiar a las grandes producciones del género. Arte, fotografía, y música crean una ambientación perfecta, que nos meterá de lleno en el pellejo del gato más retorcido que hayamos visto.
